Our pre-school room is large and bright with free flow access to the main outdoor area. The ratio is one adult to every eight children, staff build very strong links with their key children, working hard during focused activities to ensure each child receives individually tailored experiences to help them to learn to their full potential.
In addition to the focused activities offered and the vast range of carefully thought out continuous provision the children can choose to self-access a wide range of resources. Staff deliver further learning opportunities to the children including phase one phonics through weekly letters and sounds sessions and meaningful movement and write dance using the large dance studio on the College grounds.
Staff fully value children’s interests and support them to share their experiences during circle times with one another and the staff team. The room is zoned to allow children to explore all areas of the curriculum and there is always a vast range of messy and creative activities to explore.
During the term we try to offer trips for the pre-school children, visiting local primary schools, the zoo, farm parks and the theatre. Within the setting children are given opportunities to visit the sensory room and ICT rooms as well as making the most of the wider College grounds, playing with the parachute and joining in ring games on the field.
Staff encourage children to develop their independence in preparation for school, learning to manage self-care skills including toileting, hand washing and putting on and taking off own coats and shoes. These skills are valued as importantly as being academically ready for school. Throughout the year we welcome foundation stage teachers and nursery teachers from our local Primary schools and take children on visits in preparation for their new exciting journey. Each academic year ends with our amazing graduation ceremony, where the children wear their caps and gowns and are presented with their certificates by the College principal, all watched proudly by their families, our staff team and other valued people who have contributed to their time at the setting.
“It has been an absolute pleasure seeing how much our little boy has grown and developed during his time in the pre-school room at the Beauchamp Childcare Centre. The staff do an excellent job at preparing the children for their transition to full time school. We would recommend the facility to anyone looking for a place for their child to learn through play and develop skills which will help them with going further on their journey.”
