Planned, purposeful play delivers the knowledge, skills and understanding children need at each step, with every child carefully assessed to track their progress. Consultation with parents and carers is frequent, designed to plan for each child’s next steps. Each plan is unique, as each child develops differently. Each child has their own unique learning journey that tracks and outlines their development as outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Each room is zoned to cover both the prime and specific areas of learning and development:Prime Areas:
- Personal Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
- Communication and Language
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
The learning journey is full of observations, photographs and children’s work examples. We encourage parents to contribute to their child’s learning journey sharing with us key moments from home including holidays and outings, we then use this information to help your child to share their news and plan for their interests. You and your child are actively encouraged to access your child’s learning journey regularly to see what they have been up to and how they are progressing.
The learning journey becomes a treasured keepsake for parents when children leave us to join school. We share progress reposts with their feeder schools and have very strong links with our feeder primary schools, this involves regular visits from the foundation stage teachers and our staff taking children to visit their new school. Transition through the centre is also of upmost importance, children have group visits supported by their key person to their next group room before having independent visits of increasing length prior to them moving departments.
